All Hail Vonnegut!

Noah, I was reading Breakfast of Champions a few weeks ago, and a folded-up piece of paper fell out:

If you can't read it, it says "My favorite author--my favorite book. ALL HAIL VONNEGUT!" It's signed on Vonnegut's epaulettes by "Ryano" and it's dated October 29, 2006. Pretty cool, eh? It was tucked into the book so well that it stayed there until I was almost done, even with my book-throwing habit.

I'm not sure if I did the right thing in keeping the note, though. I've been told I should put it back. I'll keep you, Noah, updated.

Nonetheless, this could open up a whole world of possibilities as far as cutesy forms of conversation go. I'm going to start leaving notes in library books. It's a message in a bottle, a cat tied to a balloon, a Dear Mr. Henshaw, except for the literate.

Also, there are 15 Ryan Os currently at Pitt. If he were a freshman in 2006, and that's a long shot, he'd probably be graduating this spring. Five of the 15 Ryan Os have undeclared majors, so cross them off. Of the remaining 10, all have plans in math or chemistry--except one theater and communications double major. Sounds like our only hope. The problem: it's a girl whose middle name is Ryan. Either its a clever pen name or "Ryano" will never be identified.

Sad.
