Noah, yesterday my computer died. The thing just turned off, and attempts to turn it back on resulted in nothing more than a flicker. After several minutes, I learned that starting it upside-down worked. Then I realized flipping it uptight worked as long as you kept the screen bent mostly closed. I figured it was a loose wire running from the motherboard to the screen that was causing it to short. Anyway, I put some pressure on the hinge today AND IT WORKED. Except I had to hold it in place. Eventually I found a really heavy object--a poker chip suitcase--and rammed it up against the hinge. It worked! Sadly, though, my laptop can never move again.
Requiescat in pace, laptop mobility.
Melancholy.
